PC is a thermoplastic, meaning it will eventually melt and burn under intense heat or fire. However, PC is considered a self-extinguishing material, meaning it will stop burning once the ignition source is removed. Unlike some other materials, PC sheets do not emit toxic or corrosive gases when burning.
The material is protected from ultraviolet radiation on both sides by a special layer applied by coextrusion. Thanks to this method, the material does not deteriorate under the influence of sunlight and the sheets retain their quality for more than 15 years.
Both surfaces of the sheet are protected by fully recyclable polyethylene (PE) film. Keep this film in place for as long as possible and remove it immediately after installation. Sharp objects, particles, or even small shards can penetrate through the protective polyethylene coating and damage the surface, so always place it on a clean, smooth surface.
The protective film is suitable for thermoforming. Using deep draw thermoforming at high temperatures may result in stronger adhesion of the polyethylene film. Sealed film should be removed before thermoforming to avoid transferring printed ink onto the surface of the sheet.
